Manager of Communications and Engagement (Full Time)
ABOUT THE ROLE:
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Manager of Communications & Engagement leads and executes how MELA communicates, connects, and activates its audiences. This role owns both strategy and execution of communications efforts to build awareness, strengthen relationships, and drive participation across the coalition, including Forum for the Future. As storyteller, the Manager will create messaging and materials to inform, educate, and inspire key audiences including but not limited early care and education professionals, policymakers, and parents of young children. In collaboration with the MELA team, the Communications director should be able to craft targeted pitches for the press and potential funders, as well as explain MELA’s progress to existing funders and Board of Directors.
This is a strong mid-level role designed for a professional ready to take ownership of communications and engagement within a collaborative, fast-moving environment. Communications at MELA is not only about sharing information, but about shaping engagement, strengthening alignment, and supporting collective action. This role is perfect for someone with a passion for public health or policy communication, or someone with some political or advertising campaign experience looking to grow as a strategic planner and engaging visual storyteller.

Coordinator of Operations and Adminstration (Part Time)
ABOUT THE ROLE:
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Coordinator of Operations & Administration serves as the part-time operational support for MELA’s work, ensuring that systems, processes, and coordination function smoothly across all initiatives and workstreams. This role supports the execution of MELA’s work by maintaining the infrastructure that allows the team and coalition to operate effectively and consistently.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives on organization, enjoys connecting moving parts, and takes pride in making complex work feel seamless. The Coordinator works across internal teams and coalition partners to support alignment, manage logistics, and ensure that day-to-day operations are executed with clarity, consistency, and attention to detail. The perfect candidate for this role loves creating order, and keeping complex work moving forward with ease. They bring experience in operations, systems, finance, or logistics, enjoy flexible and project-based work, and have goals to grow into leadership roles in operations or strategy.
